Dear Susu and Dan,
Some of the whackiness had to be experienced to be believed, and I’m so happy to have been with your both on your adventure. I believe I can honestly say that I will never again have the pleasure of photographing a wedding with indoor fireworks. However, what really made the day from my perspective was not all the surprises around every corner, but how much both your families and friends were committed to this unique experience, soaked up every moment, and truly appreciated being together. In addition to your wedding day, being able to spend the night in the Yellow Mountains was truly unforgettable and being there for sunrise was very special. Thank you for everything. I already miss being with our little “travel-family.” I’m thinking China 2018—-The Reunion Trip…who’s in?!!!!!

thanks for reading this really really long write up of our wedding adventure. glad you all found it funny. at the time it wasn’t funny at all. it was really stressful and confusing. as chinese as i think i am, obviously i have not fully experienced the power of “guan xi” or connections in china.

everything happened in this wedding was largely due to everyone’s connections. whether we wanted help or not, connections got involved. then the whole thing just took on a life of its own. the performances, press, cars, flowers, and even my make up artist was all due to people knowing people. having lots of white people in my small town also helped draw a lot of attention too

Ah, SuSu. I love it. I am so happy for the two of you and really enjoyed reading this. It’s sounds so magical and was an event that you will always remember. I can’t believe 500 people showed up! My goodness, you are a celebrity in China. I had no idea! Lucky for me I get to share a birthday with a famous Chinese woman . I am proud of all you and Dan accomplished and congrats. Love you!!!!

I WAS there and I have yet to fully wrap my head around what just happened! No matter of pre-flight and preparation could have prepared us for all the surprises we met at every turn! It was the adventure of a lifetime, and as Suzanne and I crank thru processing the thousands upon thousands of photos, I’m still amazed and in disbelief of everything that we all did.

One thing I AM certain of… the utmost respect, admiration, and THANKS to Susu, Dan, and their families (and goofy fun friends!) from all points of the planet. Thank you, thank you, thank you…

that story you blogged is hilarious! sounds like it was fun and hopefully memorable. doesn’t the entire day go by so quickly??? i can’t believe you’re already back home.

i can’t wait to see the photos and especially the glitter. i was just picturing in my head the whole story as a movie, and the faces you were making to the make-up artist when you didn’t want the leaf or crown! haha
